I do believe the staff genuinely care about the animals, and I never had an issue with the actual appointments or the care my dog received while we were there. Unfortunately, my biggest issue was the lack of communication and follow-through outside of appointments. After my dog had blood work done, I was told I would receive a call with the results within 48 hours. When I hadn't heard anything after three days, I called and was told someone would call me back by the end of the day. That didn't happen. I was given the same promise on two additional occasions, and still never received a call. I ultimately only got the results because I happened to bring my dog in for another reason and asked for them in person. My dog is a senior so i was very concerned about making sure everything was okay. I had a similar experience when trying to refill one of my dog's medications. For about a week, I called multiple times a day and could never get anyone to answer. i only received a call back twice out of at least a dozen calls, which I was busy and missed, and then still couldn't get ahold of them. My dog eventually ran out of medication, which was particularly concerning because stopping it could potentially result in rebound pain. I had to send someone to the clinic in person on two separate occasions just to get the refill addressed. The first time, I was told it would be taken care of, but it wasn't, so someone had to go back again. I also had to personally obtain my dog's records because my pet insurance company AND eventually her new veterinarian were unable to get a response from the clinic when they reached out regarding records. Ultimately, I switched veterinarians because I need to be able to communicate with my dog's veterinary office and trust that things will be followed through on, especially when medication and medical records are involved. Because my dog is a senior, having such an unreliable line of communication with her vet is especially unacceptable for me as a customer. And I appreciate the care they showed my dog during appointments, but the repeated communication and follow-through issues made it very difficult to continue using the practice.

This is my new vet now! After having a bad experience at another vet that I went to for 16 years, that went corporate, I will always be coming here for all of my pets now!

Update: I had a frustrating experience with Sweetwater Animal Hospital that ultimately led me to find a new veterinarian. The exam itself went well, and I was happy with the care my dog received. However, the problems started when it came to filling the prescription. The hospital strongly encourages clients to use its online pharmacy, and if you choose to use another pharmacy, you're charged an additional $15 authorization fee. Even with that fee, ordering through Chewy would have saved us more than $50, so we asked them to approve the prescription. Instead, we were told they would not authorize it because they wanted us to purchase only one dose at a time so they could monitor our dog's weight. That explanation didn't make sense because they also told us they didn't need to see our dog again for a full year. When I asked how they planned to monitor the weight if there wouldn't be another exam, I was told they would simply rely on my judgment. From my perspective, that made it seem less about medical care and more about steering customers toward their own pharmacy. I asked to speak with the veterinarian to better understand the decision, but I was later told the doctor "doesn't do things like this" and would not speak with me. I don't mind paying for quality veterinary care, and I understand there are valid medical reasons to limit prescriptions. Unfortunately, this didn't feel like one of those situations. The lack of a clear explanation and unwillingness to discuss the decision left me feeling like customer service took a back seat to pharmacy sales. Because of this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I wish I could give them more than five stars! The front desk staff was very friendly and quick! I brought in a 20 year old leopard gecko for some stuck shed and was very nervous because of his old age. But the clinical staff was amazing and relieved my nerves with how great they were. Our vet tech, Ashley, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and sweet with our grandpa gecko. Please give her a raise!!! 😃 And Dr. Justin Verner took his time with us and explained everything very thoroughly. I cannot thank you all enough for this wonderful experience! 🦎💚
