Rockdale Animal Hospital

I had a very unfortunate experience at Rockdale Animal Hospital and will not be returning. On Friday, I called because I was concerned that my dog’s reduced medication dose was not working and his symptoms had become more noticeable. I discussed this with Dr. Eric S. Cline, who agreed that he may need to go back up on his medication and/or restart the taper. We agreed to restart the medication and I told them I would pick up the medication on Tuesday. The doctor also left me a voicemail before I returned his call and stated the same thing. When I arrived today to pick up the medication, the prescription was incorrect based on what had been discussed. Instead of receiving the original dose, the medication was written for a lower dose. When I explained the conversation I had with the doctor on Friday and the voicemail he left, the receptionist, Samantha went to speak with him. While standing there, I overheard the doctor make the comment, “Oh, she’s trying to kill the dog,” while discussing me and my dog’s medication. I found this extremely upsetting and unprofessional. I was simply advocating for my dog and restating what we discussed on Friday and the voicemail the doctor personally left for me. What bothered me most was that instead of coming out to speak with me directly and explaining any medical concerns about the dosage, the doctor continued communicating through the receptionist. When I mentioned to her that, that was unprofessional the doctor then came out and I played the voicemail confirming our previous discussion. He immediately became defensive and kept trying to talk over me. When I said I wanted the medication as previously discussed and that I would not be returning, his response was that he would “appreciate that and would note it in my chart”. If there was a medical reason the doctor no longer felt comfortable prescribing a certain dose, I would have respected a professional explanation. What I cannot accept is being spoken about disrespectfully within earshot instead of communicating with me directly. I expect a veterinarian to communicate clearly and respectfully, especially when a pet owner is concerned about their animal’s health. I also believe conversations about patients and clients should be held privately, not where other customers can overhear them. This entire interaction left me feeling dismissed, disrespected, and uncomfortable, and I will be taking my dog’s care elsewhere.

I was recommended by my neighbor and very satisfied with the patience and services I received for my 83lb 5 month old puppy.

Crain and staff are amazing. Dannie, the office manager is a jewel. They take care of my fur babies in a way that is unmatched.

I could not be any happier with the service I receive every time I need to take my cat to Rockdale Animal Hospital. Dr. Cline and Dr. Whitlock take such good care of my cat and the staff is amazing, friendly and kind. Thank you for all you do!
