Animal Emergency Care Of Braselton

We took my one of my German shepherd Chuck to animal emergency On May 13 2026 because had been lethargic anorexic vomiting and constipated for 72hrs and his litter mates had suffered from similar symptoms with splenic torsion 2 weeks prior. We asked them to check for/rule out splenic torsion along with any other similar gastric torsion. They performed x-ray of Chuck’s abdomen and noted a mildly enlarged liver and spleen as an incidental finding. However, Ashley Owens, DVM, never mentioned the concerning gas patterns or that his organs appear pushed to one side. She told us further testing wasn’t considered medically necessary at that point and was only needed if he didn’t improve, but that was comfortable just treating immediate symptoms to get his appetite back. She diagnosed him with gastroenteritis but prescribed Entyce to stimulate appetite, famotidine as an antacid, a probiotic. She did not prescribe Reglan which is typical for gastroenteritis. Additionally, she advised that if appetite return in 24-48hrs she would recommend bloodwork. I was charged $1,080.69 for the visit with them. Chuck’s appetite increased over the next several days. He had bought of nausea and vomiting, but we were told that could be a side effect of the Entyce that was prescribed. However, three weeks later Chuck suddenly collapsed and I rushed him to a secondary emergency vet UGA and he had to undergo emergency surgery for GDV, but he passed away. I was told by UGA that the X-ray and symptoms from the first episode were likely a precursor to that fatal GDV episode. I would never take any of my other pets to this facility. Dr. Owens was negligent and there are repeated cases of her negligence all of yelp and Facebook. She prescribed medication that deviated against the standard veterinary care and the recommended treatment if he didn’t improve in 24-48hrs falls below the standard of care as well. She also failed to give recommendations beyond that timeframe. Dr. Owens and animal emergency care of Braselton are liable for the substandard care we received plus the repercussions that followed along with the fair market value of my dog. I’ve also filed complaints against this facility and Dr. Owens herself with the state board to investigate their negligence and malpractice.

Brought Laken in at 11:30 pm after he ate 2 raisins. They explained that he would need to be hospitalized for 2 nights. Picked him up at 7:00 am. He had a good night. The staff were very attentive to me and him. I appreciate everything they have done for him and I will take him to his regular vet as soon as they open. I highly recommend this service and would not hesitate to take him again if the need arises. Thank you all for your professionalism and support!

Took my puppy in thinking she had parvo. The staff was so kind to begin with. Obviously its an emergency vet so if your animal is healthy enough you will be waiting while they try to save the lives of the pets that are there you will be waiting longer. Like any ER. I had no problem waiting especially after i was told my dog did not have parvo i would be leaving with her eventually and they were trying to save another dog. I feel awful for the people that did not leave with their pet that day and i know the doctor and staff did everything they could to save it because they literally were shaking with tears in their eyes as they came to update me on my baby. If i could give 100 stars i would!!! And to the guy that said 500 for no medicine for a uti i find it hard to believe i paid less than 600 had several test and IVs came home with 4 medicines. I was expecting to pay a ton more to be honest. They are amazing and they truly care about their patients

*** Do not trust *** Lost little man due to complete negligence on their behalf. Two months ago, little man was battling coccidia and needed some fluids for the night. They brought him back to me and he was gagging which was the first red flag. They took him back again and said they "suctioned some fluid out" but he was still gagging. He became unresponsive immediately. They flooded his system by pushing too much, too fast. He passed away the next day at my regular vet office where my vet said he was freezing and lungs where filled. He began gasping for air despite oxygen flow and was let go before he could suffer any longer. Idk if they let someone with little knowledge do it, or if they simply didnt care and rushed it. Either way, I'll never recommend a practice such as this. If you have an emergency, drive the extra 15 min to BluePearl John's Creek.

This was our first time here, and if we ever have another animal emergency, we will 100% be back. The facility was super new and clean. The staff members were incredibly kind and helpful. Even our crazy husky (I’m sure you all know how crazy huskies are…) felt relaxed! We brought him in due to his pupils being different sizes. Of course, Google made it seem like he was going to go blind by the end of the night. We were expecting a $3k bill. Thankfully it was just a scratch, and we walked out only paying $300 (with the medicine included). Our sweet boy is already feeling so much better thanks to this amazing staff!
